The Library collection consists of nearly 4750+ books in various disciplines. These are arranged subject-wise. It has also acquired a few ISO standards (International Standards Organization) in digital form. At present, the main motto is to build up the Library collection such that it has information resources up to Ph.D. level, including advanced texts and reference materials.
IIT Dharwad is a Life Member of the prestigious “Current Science Association” of the “Indian Academy of Sciences”, and receiving the “Current Science” journal. It also receives some national newspapers and light reading magazines. Very soon, some popular S&T magazines will be at readers’ disposal, which will make young minds aware of recent happenings in the scientific world. Being a part of Inflibnet -eShodhSindhu, the serious readers can access nearly 7000+ reputed E-Journals (Cambridge, Oxford University, Springer, T&F, etc.), Elsevier ScienceDirect 05 Subject Collection, Databases (MathSciNet, ACM Digital Library, IEEE Electronic Library, JSTOR, Project Muse, etc.) and Society Publications (ACS, AIP, APS, ASME, OSA, ACM, etc.) literature retrospectively. This collection is the bread-n-butter for the Institute’s research scholars and faculty members to quench their thirst for state-of-the-art knowledge.
General Rules & Regulations of the Central Library
- Entry only against IITDh ID card.
- Strict silence is to be maintained in the library.
- Only notebooks/scribbling pads, pens, pencils, calculators are allowed in the library.
- Backpack should be deposited outside the library area in the designated place.
- Use of mobiles and discussions are prohibited in the library.
- Writing on tables and in books is prohibited.
- Edibles are not allowed.
- Waste papers should be put in the dust bins.
- No library resources are allowed to be taken out of the library without proper authorization.
- Books should be left on tables after their use.

Library Overdue Fine Policy

INR 2.00 per day (First-7 days) |
- The issue facility shall be suspended, if the net accumulated late fee exceeds Rs. 150/-. User account will be activated again, once the late fee is paid, and the items are returned.
- The recovery process will be initiated if the library book(s) is not returned within 30 days of the due date.
- High-value-cost books will not be issued to students for borrowing and will be kept only for reference.
Recovery Policy for Lost and Not Returned Library Books @IIT - Dharwad
- If the user damages or loses a Library Book, he/she has to replace the exact/latest edition of the item to the Library with Overdue Fine and Processing Fees (20% of the Purchase Price of the Book in Foreign Currency, if applicable) or INR 100.00 whichever is higher.
- If the user loses one volume of a multi-volume set and is unable to replace the lost volume, he/she has to pay the cost of the entire set of volumes with admissible fines and processing fees.
- In a case out of print books, Minimum of INR 1000.00/- or the Publisher's price / from the website or other renowned websites like Amazon, etc. whichever is higher plus fine and processing fees.
- The recovery process will be initiated if the library items are not returned within the 45 Days of the due date.
